Mid-Year Momentum: Making the Most of July

Mid-Year Momentum: Making the Most of July

July 01, 2026

July is one of those months that naturally encourages us to slow down. Longer days, warm evenings, vacations, and time with family provide the perfect opportunity to recharge before the second half of the year begins.

It's also an excellent time to pause and reflect. Whether your goals involve retirement, growing your savings, or simply building greater financial confidence, a mid-year check-in can help ensure you're still moving in the right direction.

Take Advantage of Summer's Longer Days

Summer offers a chance to step away from busy schedules and enjoy life's simple moments. Consider taking an evening walk, reading outside, or spending a little less time on screens. Small moments of rest often provide the clarity needed to make better decisions in every area of life, including your finances.

Conduct a Mid-Year Financial Check-In

Six months have already passed. Now is a great time to ask yourself:

  • Are you still on track to meet your financial goals?
  • Have there been any major life changes this year?
  • Are your retirement and investment strategies still aligned with your long-term objectives?

Even small adjustments made now can have a meaningful impact by year's end.

Invest in What Matters Most

Financial planning isn't only about numbers; it's about creating the freedom to enjoy the people and experiences that matter most.

Summer is the perfect season to reconnect with family and friends. Whether it's hosting a backyard cookout, scheduling lunch with an old friend, or simply making time for loved ones, these moments often become life's greatest investments.

Celebrating Independence Day

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we're reminded of the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy every day. It's a wonderful time to appreciate how far we've come while looking ahead with optimism.

Here are a few ways to celebrate:

  • Gather with family and friends for a backyard barbecue or picnic.
  • Attend a local fireworks display or community celebration.
  • Support a local small business during the holiday weekend.
  • Reflect on the goals you've already achieved this year—and those still ahead.

Keep Cool While Keeping Energy Costs Down

Summer comfort doesn't have to come with a sky-high electric bill. A few simple home maintenance tasks can improve energy efficiency and reduce monthly utility costs.

Replace Your HVAC Filter

One of the easiest ways to improve your home's efficiency is by replacing your air filter regularly. A clean filter helps your HVAC system run more efficiently and may reduce energy consumption by 5% to 15%.

Let Technology Help

Smart and programmable thermostats make it easy to reduce energy usage while you're away from home. Automatically adjusting your home's temperature throughout the day can reduce annual heating and cooling costs without sacrificing comfort.

Schedule Routine HVAC Maintenance

Preventive maintenance helps catch small issues before they become expensive repairs. A well-maintained system operates more efficiently, lasts longer, and keeps your home comfortable throughout the hottest months of the year.

Improve Your Home's Efficiency

Simple improvements can make a noticeable difference:

  • Seal air leaks around windows and doors.
  • Replace worn weather stripping.
  • Use blackout curtains or shades during peak sunlight.
  • Consider retractable awnings if your home receives intense afternoon sun.

Small improvements today can lead to meaningful savings over time.

A Special Trip to Germany

Kim and I recently had the opportunity to travel to Germany for a very special reunion with our former exchange student. It was an incredible experience exploring her home country and spending time together.

Because of this, my personal schedule will be a bit lighter during July. However, our office remains fully staffed and our entire team is here to assist you with anything you may need.
